Although Monika is an intelligent, passionate, and astute young woman, these qualities don’t help her much in her job as a senior secretary in a small company with an arrogant boss. Unsurprisingly, Monika also has bad luck in love—even with her latest flame, a Chinese man, the relationship is anything but average.
What makes this book, written with plenty of humor and biting candor, so special is its diary format, in which the protagonist, Monika D., comments on everything in direct speech, as if the reader were sitting right next to her.
